In her latest documentary ‘The Belle from Gaza’, presented on Friday in the Special Screenings section at the Cannes Film Festival, director Yolande Zauberman follows in the footsteps of a trans woman who left Gaza to walk to Tel Aviv. A legend that forms the starting point for a nocturnal odyssey into Israel's queer community.
Following the powerful documentaries ‘Would You Have Sex with an Arab?’ and ‘M’ as part of Zauberman’s “Night Trilogy”, ‘The Belle from Gaza’ is an ode to freedom and gender fluidity.
